Bastion Community of Resilience awarded $450,000 by Baptist Community Ministries
Bastion Community of Resilience is the recipient of Baptist Community Ministries (BCM)’s $450,000 Transom Grant. According to Bastion, the awarded funds will be used to continue and enhance health and wellness programming for their residents and members of the Greater New Orleans community for the next three years.
“We are committed to sustaining Bastion’s environment of wellness and support and thanks to BCM’s involvement, we can further our efforts to promote physical, mental, spiritual and social health,” said Dylan Tête, founder and executive director of Bastion. “BCM is committed to building a healthier community and we can not thank them enough for allowing Bastion to serve on their behalf.”
Bastion’s overall health and wellness programs are geared toward helping resident warriors and their families recover from the traumas faced in battle. Those services include yoga and meditation classes, self-care workshops, financial literacy courses, legal aid services, counseling and more.
Through this grant, Bastion will continue to expand and enhance these programs to make an impact in the lives of its residents and the community.
“We are proud to support Bastion in its efforts to continually provide health and wellness programs to improve the lives of returning warriors, their families and members of the New Orleans community,” said Charles Beasley, president and CEO of Baptist Community Ministries. “We are excited to work hand-in-hand with Dylan and his team to address this critical gap in the continuum of care for military veterans and hope to make a lasting impact.”
