Capdau Charter moves to Avery C. Alexander school site for 2017
New Beginnings Schools Foundation (NBSF) has announced that Pierre A. Capdau Charter School is scheduled to move to a new state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Gentilly for the 2017-2018 academic school year. Capdau, which has called 4621 Canal St. home since 2005, will now be located at 5800 Saint Roch Ave.
According to NBSF, Pierre A. Capdau is an open admission school comprised of a community of learners who experience academic achievement and personal growth in a positive, inclusive, and enriched environment.
“We firmly believe that providing a technologically advanced learning environment for our students will enhance their academic advancement,” said Michelle Blouin-Williams, New Beginnings Schools Foundation CEO. “This new learning center will be a great space for teaching and learning.”
The new building, located at the former Avery C. Alexander school site, was built specifically to accommodate Capdau’s Pre-K through 8th Grade students. The state-of-the-art facility will include a band room, gymnasium, media center, library, green space for outdoor activities, and much more.
“This is such an exciting time for our students, parents and teachers,” said Rulonda Green, Principal of Capdau. “We are eager to move into our new building to provide our students with a robust, high-quality education in a 21st Century learning center.”
