City Planning Commission approves unified streetscape for Lake Area business corridor
The City Planning Commission unanimously voted to pass the establishment of a new interim zoning district for the Lake Area Neighborhood Business District at their regular meeting on Tuesday, (Jan. 10).
The interim zoning district proposed by the Commission is called the Lake Area Neighborhood Business District Bulk & Yard Overlay District. The new district affects the side yard setback requirements in the affected business areas.
The zoning district changes the classification of two business districts in the area, S-LB1 and S-LB2.
Business districts S-LB1 and S-LB2 are located in the following commercial corridors and around the following neighborhoods:
- West End
According to the City Planning Commission in their report, the denser development patterns created by the new interim zoning district will create an easier walking environment for pedestrians.
No one signed up to speak on Tuesday either in favor or in opposition to the interim zoning district change for the Lake Area business corridor. No comments or questions were made by the commission, and no discussion was held.
The proposal will next move to be voted on by City Council at a later date.
