Dillard and LSU Health Shreveport create medical school pipeline program
Dillard University and the Louisiana State University Health Shreveport School of Medicine have established a partnership to allow more Dillard students to apply to medical school.
The partnership was created through a memorandum of understanding that states that all Dillard students who meet a certain set of requirements will be guaranteed an interview with the admissions committee of the LSU Shreveport Health School of Medicine. The agreement is effective July 1.
“LSU Health Shreveport is committed to increasing the number of underrepresented students attending and graduating from our medical school. We are working diligently to provide a clear pathway to accomplish that goal,” said School of Medicine dean David Lewis.
Tracie Thomas, pre-health adviser at Dillard University, said that the memorandum of understanding “will further the LSUHS and Dillard commitment to progressive opportunities for Black and Latinx scholars.”
