73-year-old Gentilly Terrace resident accused in the fatal shooting of her husband
The New Orleans Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for a 73-year-old woman in the fatal shooting of her husband, Jimmie Jimerson, 75, in Gentilly Terrace.
The suspect is currently hospitalized with gunshot wounds in the same shooting.
On Saturday (June 18), the NOPD named Sandra Jimerson, 73, as a suspect in the investigation of a domestic homicide earlier that day in Gentilly Terrace.
Mr. Jimerson was killed in the double shooting shortly before 12:45 p.m. in their home in the 3800 block of Gentilly Blvd.
Third District officers responding to a call of gunfire found the couple suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced Mr. Jimerson dead on scene.
EMS took Mrs. Jimerson to the hospital. NOPD homicide detectives determined that it was a domestic incident and obtained an arrest warrant for her on one count of domestic second-degree murder.
Upon her release from medical treatment, Mrs. Jimerson will be booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center, police said.
