Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation to host lighthouse glow run
The Lighthouse Glow Run will feature a ½-mile “Fun Run” for kids, a 2-mile run, and an afterparty.
Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation will hold the Lighthouse Glow Run on Saturday, August 19, 2017. The ½-mile “Fun Run” and a 2-mile Run & Walk will run along Lakeshore Drive beginning and ending in front of the New Canal Lighthouse Museum and Education Center at 8001 Lakeshore Drive.
Race registration before Aug. 14 costs $30 for adults and $20 for youth and seniors. It includes a Lighthouse Glow Run Sport-Tek t-shirt, food, drinks, games, and admission to the afterparty at the Lighthouse. Registration fees are $35 for adults and $25 for youth and seniors the day of the run. To register, visit the form link here.

- 5:30 p.m. – Registration & Check-in
- 6 p.m. – Pussyfooters Warm-Up Begins
- 6:30 p.m. – ½ mile kids Fun Run
- 6:45 p.m. – 2-mile Run/Walk
- 7:30 p.m. – Afterparty
The afterparty at the New Canal Lighthouse will follow, featuring food, drinks, and live music by Natural Selection. Both racers and non-racers are welcome to attend, and admission is free for participants with a race number. For non-racers, admission to the after party is $5 for adults and free for children.
Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation members with a current membership card will receive free admission to the post-race party. To become a member, click here.
According to the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, participants can park in any of the public parking lots along Lakeshore Drive. Between 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Lakeshore Drive may be closed due to traffic between the New Canal Lighthouse and Marconi Drive.
Those that aren’t race participants who may be driving between the above times are advised to enter from the beginning of Lakeshore Drive at Robert E. Lee Boulevard. Parking will be available before, during, and after the Lakeshore Drive closure.
