Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation hosts 28th annual beach sweep this weekend
The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation will be holding its 28th Annual Beach Sweep presented by Toyota this Saturday, Sept. 16.
Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation’s beach sweep involves volunteers, partners, and sponsors cleaning curbs, ditches, and storm drains on city streets and rural roadways, in order to help care for the areas that drain the Pontchartrain Basin. This year includes an activity with storm drain markers being placed on drains in Orleans and Jefferson parishes.
The beach sweep will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, located at 8001 Lakeshore Drive. Interested participants can sign up to volunteer here.
Designated areas for cleanup around the lake included Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Tammany, and East Baton Rouge parishes. The beach sweep will happen in conjunction with the International Coastal Cleanup sponsored by Ocean Conservancy.
