Man and woman injured in shooting on Franklin Avenue
A man and a woman met with gunfire Wednesday (March 29) while stopped at a red light on Franklin Avenue near the I-10/I-610 interchange, the New Orleans Police Department reported.
At about 4:30 p.m., a white sport utility vehicle pulled up beside them. At least two occupants, armed with rifles, opened fire, police said. Both victims were struck.
Third District officers were called to the 3400 block of Franklin Avenue and found the man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services brought them to a hospital.
During the ongoing investigation, the NOPD Identified a GMC Terrain, shown above left, they’ve linked to the shooting and are asking the public’s help in locating it. No license plate is visible in the surveillance footage.
The shooting occurred at the about the same time a man was killed in another Gentilly shooting; the two crimes are not believed to be related.
