Man fatally hit by car in St. Bernard area
A 54-year-old man lying in the street near McDonogh 35 High School was fatally struck by a car early Wednesday (Oct. 6), the New Orleans Police Department reported.
At about 4:30 a.m., a man was driving a 2009 GMC west on Senate Street. After making a right turn onto Cadillac Street, he felt a bump.
The driver got out of his car and saw he had struck the victim. He remained on the scene and spoke to Third District officers.
The 54-year-old victim was pronounced dead by emergency medical responders.
No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the decedent and determine the official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
