Teenager found shot to death inside car on Lakeshore Drive
A 19-year-old male was shot to death in a vehicle near Lakeshore Drive and Franklin Avenue on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 7), the New Orleans Police Department reported. The Coroner’s Office identified him as James Moffett.
An unidentified female who had been driving the car was treated for minor wounds unrelated to the shooting.
The victims had been sitting in the car when a vehicle pulled up. A man got out and opened fire on them, the NOPD said.
At 12:37 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to a shots fired at the lakefront. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man and woman in the parked vehicle. Moffett, who was in the passenger seat, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene.
The woman in the driver’s seat sustained non-gunshot-related superficial injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
