Woman, 60, killed in triple shooting on Athis Street, police say
One female victim was killed and two other people were wounded in a triple shooting Tuesday night just off Elysian Fields in Gentilly, New Orleans police said.
The shooting took place shortly after 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, in the 2200 block of Athis Street, according to NOPD officials.
Two women — one 60 years old, and the other in her 30s — were walking up to the front door of a home when someone approached from behind and began firing on them, also injuring a 60-year-old man inside, according to the initial NOPD report. Police found the two female victims “lying at the front of a residence and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds” and “a male victim inside the residence also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” the report states.
The 60-year-old woman was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, the report states.
