Suspect arrested in shooting death at Franklin Avenue gas station
The NOPD’s Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals on Friday (Nov. 17) arrested Raymond Coats, 20, in the killing of Calvin “C.J.” Brown Jr, a letter carrier and reggae DJ, the New Orleans Police Department reported.
Brown was shot death on Oct. 18 at the Shell station in the 3400 block of Franklin Avenue. Brown was 41 and leaves a son and daughter behind.
After NOPD homicide detectives developed Coats as a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant, he was located in the 7500 block of Stonewood Drive and arrested without incident
Coats was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder. His remained jailed Friday evening; his bond had not been set.
