Symphony Book Fair returning to the Lakefront Arena
The Symphony Book Fair is returning to the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena.
The fair opens for three days starting Friday (June 3). Visitors can choose from thousands of books, CDs, sheet music, DVDs, audiobooks and art all at bargain prices.
The fair is run by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Volunteers, a nonprofit organization that supports the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. The LPO is “the oldest full-time musician-governed and collaboratively-operated orchestra in the United States,” according to their website.
It will feature original works from well-known local artists, historic Jazz Fest posters and 1984 Louisiana World Exposition collectibles.
For the first chance to get prime items at the fair, there is a $15 admission on opening day for Friday, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. After 3, admission is free until the event closes at 8 p.m.
There is free admission for the rest of the fair, with Saturday open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m., and Sunday open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A special children’s sale will be held on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. when children have the opportunity to decorate and fill a bag with books for only $5.
There is free parking for the event. Enter the event from Franklin Avenue and drive to the sale under Ramp 1.
