Two boys and a woman killed, another woman seriously wounded in shooting inside home on Touro Street, police say
Two young boys and a woman were shot to death and another woman was seriously wounded inside a home on Touro Street early Friday morning, New Orleans police said.
The shooting was reported around 4:15 a.m. Friday, March 10, in the 4200 block of Touro Street (between Mandolin and Pelopidas streets), according to the initial NOPD report.
“When officers arrived, they found the female victim inside the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s) to the body. The victim was transported to a local hospital,” the report states.
“Officers then immediately conducted a safety sweep of the residence,” the report continues. “During the sweep, officers located three additional victims inside the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The female and two males were unresponsive. They were subsequently pronounced dead on the scene.”
Those killed include two young boys — 6-year-old Jumyrin Smith and 10-year-old Justin Simms — and a 30-year-old woman, Monique Smith, according to Orleans Parish Coroner Jeffrey Rouse.
The first woman they found remains listed in “serious” condition at the hospital, the report states.
