Clerks prevent robbery at Happy Discount

Clerks at Happy Discount on Franklin Avenue foiled an armed robbery attempt early Saturday, the New Orleans Police Department reported.
Two men drove up to the Happy Discount at 5301 Franklin Ave. at about 3:15 a.m. on Saturday (April 25), the police report states. One remained in the car while the other got out and broke the glass on the front door.
He then went behind the counter and retrieved a gun, struggling with the clerks to maintain control of the firearm. The clerks eventually got control, and the assailant fled on foot while the other man fled in the car.
