Illicit activity involved in double shooting on Jonquil Street
According to New Orleans Police, two men, one suspected of selling tramadol, were shot in the driveway of a home on the 2400 block of Jonqil Street on Monday, Aug. 7.
At the NOPD Third District weekly MAX meeting on Aug. 8, officers updated their report to the public on the aggravated battery by shooting, which was reported around 5:37 p.m the night before.
Prior to the incident, the two victims, males aged 29, were talking with one man seated in the vehicle and the other standing outside the vehicle. Then, a Black gunman about 5’11 and wearing all black and a green mask walked toward the men from behind the vehicle and started firing.
The perpetrator’s gun appeared to jam, according to one victim, then the subject approached the two men again and continued firing, shooting them both. Police said one victim was hit in the back, and the other was struck in the buttocks and the leg.
The victims were taken to the hospital after, and Third District officers said they recovered bullet casings on the scene.
