Two new contenders join Councilmember Brossett in District D race
As of July 13, incumbent Jared Brossett has had two challengers qualify for the race for New Orleans’ District D seat.
Belden “Noonie Man” Batiste, a community activist and Yellow Pocahontas Mardi Gras Indian, announced his run in June and qualified on July 12. Third challenger Thad Cossabone, a receiving clerk at Target, qualified next on July 13.
Councilmember Brossett previously announced his run for District D re-election back in May.
The three-day qualifying period that started on Wednesday, July 12 ends at 4:30 p.m. Friday. The next municipal elections will be on Oct. 14, 2017, and a runoff will take place if necessary on Nov. 18.
